So, the month of July has been a no-spend challenge month for me. So far, so good. I am a big girl and I can do without buying things that aren't necessary....until today.
My mom and I spent the afternoon together. She wanted me to see a gift shop in a town near where she lives. I had no intentions of buying anything. And I didn't...there. But there was this other little gift shop called "Earthly Blessings". Such a sweet gift shop. I found out that it's run by the Catholic church in town to raise money for their school. In my mind, I justify my purchases as a donation....right? And, they were having 30% off store wide. AND...it's not like I'll ever make a special trip back there. It had been 30 years since the last time I'd been to that town; probably will be that long the next time, if ever. So how could I not make a purchase? I knew you'd understand!
What I got: A funky ring; a chippy dove to sit in the living room; a large black "W" for the living room; and my most favorite find, a clock on a pedestal which looks like a town square clock. It was originally $36, but marked down to $10!! A tag read, "as is". I had to ask what the "as is" was because I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The clerk explained that the paint was chipped on the pedestal...and as she was talking I was thinking, "and this is a problem?" But evidently it was for them! I was so excited about it!
I would have taken a pic of my goodies, but I got home to a note from my son saying he had to take the batteries out of my camera cuz he needed them for his tonite. I'm sure I don't have any other batteries in the house, so I'll have to wait til tomorrow to take a pic.
Now that I got a "fix" today, I think I'll be able to last the rest of the month without buying anything...I hope.

Can't wait to see pics of your new purchases. Sometimes I find the best discounted items when I am not looking for them. I still haven't posted pics of mine and its been over a month. Your post reminded me I should.
Don't feel bad. Sounds like you found some great deals and it was for a worthy charity. Have a great weekend.
I would say that technically you still haven't bought anything. Since it was a charity, you simply made a donation, and they gave you a thank you gift. That idea works for me. Have a great weekend.
Sounds like a perfectly wonderful day spent in the company of your good friend, your Mom. How lovely! And, you came away with such great finds, too. Can't wait to see the pics! My 21 yr. old daughter and I went "thrifting" last Sunday. What fun we had! :-) BTW, love your page. Thanks for coming by to visit me at my blog. Happy weekend to you! Marcia
I doubt I can be as "good" as you're being! Ever since I hurt my foot eBay has been my friend! I'm glad you found some nice things. Always makes ya feel better, regardless of how you felt before!

I think your excuses sounded pretty good!! :) And you are thinking out your purchases and making them meaningful - that's half the battle!
Thanks for stopping by to visit me - come back again! :)
I've already lapsed on my cut-back this month also, :( - it's just so hard sometimes, LOL. I think you were totally justified in your purchases. We just better never go shopping together! :)
